300 Million Year Journey

300 million years ago, magma created a seamount near the Big Island of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. Over time, coral reefs were formed on the summit. Millions of years made the coral reefs into limestone. And the slow movement of the sea plates carried the limestone to Japan over 80 million years.

Established in 1964, YAMAMOTO has been focusing on technologies for both eco-friendly and people-friendly materials.

The reason why YAMAMOTO has been committed to using Limestone Chloroprene Rubber (CR) is simply because the material comes into direct contact with human skin.
Unlike Natural Rubber, CR doesn’t contain latex which can cause serious allergic reactions. It is all about safety and peace of mind.

Rubber products still can make up for the shortcomings by incorporating types of additives such as accelerator, anti-aging agent, anti-ozone agent, etc. However, it requires special attention to use such additives because some of them can cause allergies.

NR needs huge amounts of additives to compensate for its serious downsides.
Unfortunately, many allergies have been reported in the market.

In contrast, CR itself has good balance of performance. Therefore, CR doesn’t need a lot of additives, and it can minimise the risk.
Wetsuits exist to protect bodies and lives but NOT to damage them.

The only downside of CR is its high price. Some rubber manufacturers actually mix other cheaper rubber such as NR or SBR to save the cost. We do not all our wetsuits are 100% YAMAMOTO Neoprene. By not dealing with lots of retailers we can offer premium wetsuits at an affordable price.
